While they create flames and floods, we’re planting seeds of survival
Climate Mobilization Project brings young leaders together to usher in the next era of the climate movement – rooted in food, energy, water, land, and care sovereignty, resilience, and survival.
This is the movement
for Climate Survival
Meeting people’s needs, giving people a place to get involved, and leading our communities through crises.
After years of working for climate, economic, and racial justice, we began testing survival initiatives as a new tool for movements to build power.
Our Approach
Many Struggles, One Movement
Our generation has been forced into a fight for our survival, and right now, we do not have the resources to win.
That’s why Climate Mobilization Project is working to build up the leadership, participation, and economic power that our movements need to succeed.
Our Impact
Supporting Young Leaders Nationwide
Since 2023, we’ve supported young leaders from 64+ organizations in 30+ communities.
We are currently nurturing resilience and growing the climate justice movement in 16 communities nationwide through the National Climate Survival Incubator.
About Us
Who We Are
Founded in 2015, Climate Mobilization Project has a track record of building climate organizations’ skills in:
Community organizing
Climate policy
Coalition building
Racial and economic justice
From 2017 to 2022, Climate Mobilization Project passed Climate Emergency Declarations and other ambitious policies in more than 200 communities. Climate Mobilization Project has:
organized tenants and won renter protections for working-class people at the frontlines of the housing crisis;
sparked hundreds of transit riders to participate in a campaign that won $1.4 million dollars for express bus service and fare free transit;
and won EV charging access for renters, and funding for a pilot renters rights education program.
Yet, despite widespread support, we realized that millions of people saw the U.S. climate movement as a whole as irrelevant, alienating, or without a pathway to win.
So we launched Climate Survival: a new strategy for the climate movement to lead through climate disasters, economic crises, and political instability.
The Climate Survival movement builds sustainable strategies to meet our basic needs:
food
energy
water
land
and care.
We’re building up local sovereignty over these resources.
It’s economic self-determination – taking our future into our own hands, so that we don’t keep having to support the systems that have failed us. And it’s a strategy to grow our movements. By showing our ability to govern and lead, we build the power we need to win more changes, here and now.
“I haven’t stopped thinking about Climate Mobilization Project’s survival programs and climate disaster presentation – and using it as a core curriculum for my organizing. ”
